Summers and Mangoes
I love summers, may be b’coz they bring annual holidays or b’coz of fragrant jasmine flowers. Or may be b’coz it carry a hint that my birthday is near by or may be b’coz of mangoes. In southern states of India, it is almost 365 days of summer, with some un time showers and sometimes an uneven dipping of mercury levels.
Seasonal fruits are always my favorite. As these are available in particular season, I make it a point to buy and make best use of them. The best way to indulge mangoes is by just peeling the skin, cutting the pulp into cubes and relishing it. Apart from this, there are many different ways to enjoy this seasons delight, “the mangoes“.
We can easily add mango puree in making cakes, cookies, sorbets, milkshakes, cocktails, mock tails, drinks, sweets, desserts, puddings, jelly’s, granita’s, etc.

Mango Granita Ingredients
Mango – You can use any variety of mangoes. I prefer using banaganapalli or imam pasand or alphonso mangoes. You can even use ready-made fruit juice too. Prefer using sweet mangoes only.
Lime | Lemon Juice – Adds zing and taste. If the mango pulp is little sour in taste, then skip adding lime or lemon juice.
Sweetener – You can use either honey or sugar. If the mangoes are sweet, I skip adding sweetener.
Mint Leaves – Adds fresh and minty flavour to granita.
