As-Salaam-Alaikum. Hello and Welcome, Thank you for stopping by at Kitchen Flavours | Yummy Food. Allhumdulliah soon my blog is going to turn 13. It is really a woderful and blessed journey so far. Before we go further, let me intorduce myself.

About Me Lubna Karim,
My name is Lubna Karim and I have been blogging since 2008. I love cooking and enjoy reading. My mantra of yummy food is simple. Add love to any recipe to make it ‘Yummy’. My blog Yummy Food is loaded with tons of yummy recipes which are Fast to Cook & Good to Eat. Recipes here are halal, easy to cook and can fit in easily in any meal or diet plan.
How and when ‘Yummy Food’ is born?
Being a new bride in a new city (Bangalore) with lots of free time and longing for mom’s food made me start this blog, Yummy Food. All I had was a small hand written book with scribbled recipes which I noted down in hurry from my Mom, MIL and SIL before leaving to start my own kitchen. That was my only ray of hope at that time. Initially for every recipe I cooked, I use to flip the pages a dozen times. And in that time, I discovered websites loaded with tempting recipes, yum photos and much more. It was like an addiction to me at that time. Whenever I am going to cook anything, I use to search for the recipe, and as days go by it became an habit. I started trying out new recipes from blogs and got compliments from friends and family members whenever I made for them. When my cousins and friends, started saying why don’t you start your own blog…I was like….whether to or not to?????…..But soon I started one to keep the record of my cooking and it was very spontaneous, I thought of the name ‘Yummy Food’ and started off my blog and hence the birth of this blog with very first recipe Aloo Gohst ka Khorma is born….
Journey so far:
It’s been wonderful journey so far. My blog is my reflection and my identity. People know me more because of my blog. I made some wonderful friends round the globe and I am very lucky enough to find the same interest sharing persons staying very close to my house. I have won so many fabulous cookbooks by participating in events and giveaways. In the course of the journey, I got promoted from caring wife to a new and adorable mom to a sweet little princess (lil’M). I met so many food bloggers in person and started doing reviews on products, cafes and books. Met talented chefs like Chef Ratnani, Kate Bracks (MasterChef Australia 2011) and Billie McKay (MasterChef Australia 2015) in person. I even got featured in ‘Bangalore Mirror’….. and much more…..
Camera and Photography:
I know you all might be very enthusiastic in knowing bit more about it. My food photography journey started with Sony DSC H50, a simple SLR camera. Later in 2016, I bought Nikon D3300 (with no additional lens). In 2019, I bought Mi Mix2 Phone and now most of the pictures on my blog are from mobile only. Mobile Food Photography is my latest hobby these days. It is easy and convenient to take pictures with mobile. I have also done a series on ‘Food Photography & Styling’ by calling the best Food photographers in the blog world. They have shared their views, tips and techniques on food and video photography. Do check out more about the series here.
Events and Celebrations at Yummy Food:
My first ever event on ‘Yummy Food’ was ‘Joy From Fasting To Feasting’ a global Ramadan Event. Through this event I got a chance to know more about the celebration of holy month called Ramadan and Eid. And also this event gave me a chance to connect with fellow Muslim Bloggers round the globe by knowing their cultures and customs. Allhumdulliah, this event ran for 10 consecutive years, experiencing the joys of fasting and festival. More events were RendezvousWith Kitchen Flavours and I guest hosted FIC-White.
Layout, Design and Code:
I love playing with HTML, I have done a summer course in HTML and Scripting before marriage and it comes handy. I like to play around twisting, torturing and turning out code to make my blog look appealing. The header of ‘Yummy Food’ is designed by my cousin. In 2016, I migrated my blog from blogspot to wordpress. Hosted my blog through one of the largest hosting website bluehost. Since then, I have been working on my blog. As I have done with zero knowledge on hosting and migration, I have lost many subscribers, comments and page views. But I am constantly working on it. Over the time a lot has changed in blogging world. The words like SEO, Keywords, XML sitemaps, etc, came into existence. It is a ocean and I just started to learn how to swim. Wish me luck…
- Most of my recipes have been adored and admired by you people but my Rava Kesari Recipe got huge number of comments and one which was memorable was….Shweta (whom I don’t even know) one of my blog reader mailed me saying….’Girl your Rava Kesari is haunting me in dreams’ You platted it so beautifully that I am carving for it right now. Moreover, going to make it right now and it is midnight here.
- The day when I discovered Valarmathi and me stay in the same apartment building and the day I found Deepasri too staying near my house are magical moments in my life. We three had gala time when we stayed nearby in Bangalore…
Big thanks to all the readers, commenters, silent visitors and etc. who make ‘yummy food’ what it is today. Without your love and support nothing could have been possible. Heartfelt thanks to one and all for being with me and making me come this long….

Love that you have an About section now so we can get to know you better…Your photography is amazing and has improved leaps and bounds since you started! Love how you do all the HTML yourself. Sometimes I think I should get a web designer to make mine look all nice but then when I look at it know I have satisfaction that I did it myself..may not by the best out there but it's something I did.
