About This Recipe
Eggless microwave brownies are quick and yummy treats that can be made in just a few minutes. They come in different textures, from fudgy to cake-like, and are a great choice when you’re craving a delicious chocolate dessert without using an oven. To make microwave brownies, you need ingredients like flour, sugar, cocoa powder, oil, and chocolate chips. These are commonly found in your kitchen pantry.
Typically, microwave brownies take around 2-4 minutes on high power to cook, but it’s best to keep an eye on them and adjust the time accordingly. Remember, microwaves can vary, so it’s crucial to check for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center of the brownies. If it comes out with a few moist crumbs clinging to it, they’re done. Be careful not to overcook them, as this can result in dry and tough brownies.
Once the microwave brownies are ready, let them cool for a few minutes before diving in. You can enjoy them just as they are or get creative and add toppings like a scoop of vanilla ice cream, a drizzle of chocolate sauce, or a sprinkle of powdered sugar. They’re perfect for a quick dessert fix, a snack during movie nights, or even a sweet treat to share with friends and family.
So, the next time you find yourself with a craving for something sweet and chocolaty, give microwave brownies a try. They’re easy, delicious, and guaranteed to satisfy your dessert desires in no time. Enjoy!
Ingredients For Making Microwave Brownies
Flour: Flour is the main ingredient in brownies and provides structure. All-purpose flour is the most common type of flour we use in brownie recipes, but you can also use almond flour or coconut flour for gluten-free options.
Sugar: Sugar provides sweetness and helps to create a fudgy texture in brownies. Granulated sugar is the most common type of sugar used in brownie recipes, but brown sugar or coconut sugar can also be used for a different flavor. I prefer using icing sugar for my microwave recipes, as it melts fast.
Cocoa Powder: Cocoa powder is what gives brownies their chocolate flavor. Unsweetened cocoa powder is the most common type used in brownie recipes.
Oil: Oil helps to keep the brownies moist. Use any unflavored oil in making brownies. Refined sun flower oil is best for making brownies.
Baking Powder or Baking Soda: These are our leavening agents. These help our brownie batter to raise.
Salt: Salt enhances the flavor of the brownies and balances out the sweetness.
Optional Add-Ins
- Chocolate Chips: Chocolate chips can be added to the brownie batter for extra chocolate flavor and texture.
- Nuts: Chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans can be added to the brownie batter for crunch and flavor.
- Extracts: Vanilla extract or other flavored extracts can be added to the brownie batter for extra flavor.
- Spices: Spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg can be added to the brownie batter for extra flavor.
- Fruit: Chopped fruit such as raspberries or strawberries can be added to the brownie batter for extra flavor and texture.
Tips for Perfect Microwave Brownies
- Adjust your cooking time based on your microwave’s wattage. If your microwave is more powerful, you might need less time. Conversely, lower-wattage microwaves may require slightly longer cooking.
- Don’t overcook the brownie. It’s better for it to be slightly underdone in the center, as it will continue to cook a bit after being removed from the microwave due to residual heat.
- Customize your brownie by adding your favorite mix-ins, such as nuts, caramel, or a sprinkle of sea salt.
- Ensure your mug or microwave-safe dish is big enough to accommodate the brownie rising as it cooks. Otherwise, it may overflow.
- Experiment with the toppings and serve your microwave brownie with fresh berries, a dusting of powdered sugar, or a drizzle of caramel.
Recipe Notes
Dry Brownies
Dry brownies are a common problem when making microwave brownies. This can be caused by overcooking the brownies or using too much flour in the recipe. To avoid dry brownies, make sure to follow the recipe carefully and do not overcook the brownies. If the brownies are still dry, try adding a tablespoon of milk to the batter before cooking.
Undercooked Brownies
Undercooked brownies can be caused by not cooking the brownies for long enough or using too much liquid in the recipe. To avoid undercooked brownies, make sure to cook the brownies for the recommended amount of time and check them regularly. If the brownies are still undercooked, try cooking them for an additional 30 seconds to a minute.
It is important to note that microwave wattage can vary, so it may take some trial and error to get the perfect brownies. If you are experiencing other issues with your microwave brownies, such as uneven cooking or a burnt taste, try adjusting the cooking time.
