{Ramadan Special} – Veg Fish by Sania of ‘All Things GUD!’
Allhumdulliah, we reached the last ashra of Ramadan (21-30), as it unveils those days that are termed as “mother of all days- Lailat-tul-Qadar” whose reward is the highest among rest of the days. Though the entire month is a blessing, yet Allah has provided Muslims with a night the last Ashra, night of decree greater in virtue and is better than the nights of thousand months.
It is always a pleasure to meet new people….if you get to know about someone who shares the same interest and passion like you…then the pleasure is double. In today’s Sania of ‘All Things GUD!‘, is with us to share her Ramadan favorite recipe. Sania is medical professional by education but a writer by heart. Her blog is about all things even remotely allied to good living, style, health, fashion, travel, movies, parenting and everything else under the sun. Don’t miss to read her ‘My Eid Dairy‘ to get related…
Veg Fish
Yes you read it correct – vegetarian fish. This recipe is totally vegetarian but looks like a – fish, hence the name. It looks awesome and so different when you serve it to people. And tastes heavenly! It is also a great and filling snack for iftari. I must warn you that it does not fall in the category of ‘quick’ recipes.
INGREDIENTS:
For the Dough
- Refined flour (maida) – 1 cup
- Salt – 1 teaspoon
- Ajwain – 1 teaspoon
- Oil – 2 table Spoon
- Water as required
For the Filing
- Paneer – 150 gm
- Grated Cheese – ½ cup
- Onion, Green Chilli, Capsicum, finely chopped – 2 tablespoons
- Mayonnaise – 1 tablespoon (optional, subject to availability)
- Salt, Black Pepper – as per taste
PREPARATION:
- Knead tight dough and keep it covered aside for 2-3 hours.
- Crumble paneer in a big bowl; add grated cheese, mayonnaise and all other ingredients.
- Mix well. Check the seasoning.
- Take a small ball of dough and flatten it like a poori. Apply little water on the sides.
- Not cut (1 cm thick) strips from each side of the poori leaving space in the middle.
- Give 6-7 such incisions. Leave space on both the ends.
- Place a small portion of the mixture in the middle and spread it little lengthwise.
- Start closing the strips over each other in a criss-cross manner.
- Leave a little for the tail.
- Fry golden brown in medium hot oil.
- Serve hot!
