Radish Sambar | Coin Sambar

In this sambar, white radish is peeled and cut into thin roundels, which upon cooking look like coins as you can see in the picture.

Ingredients

Tuvar Dal | Red gram white Radish Tomatoes Shallots  Drumstick pieces, optional thin Tamarind extract Sambar powder Red chilli powder Turmeric powder Jaggery powder Curry leaves

Radish Sambar Recipe

Pressure cook dal till soft. Mash and set aside. Boil radish, shallots and tomato pieces in enough water until soft.

Now combine cooked vegetables, mashed dal and tamarind extract. Add water and bring this to boil by adding salt, red chili powder and turmeric powder.

When sambar starts to boil, add sambar powder, jaggery powder and curry leaves. Boil for 2 minutes and turn off the flame.

Serving

Serve hot with steamed rice, ghee, potato fry, papad and pickle. This is any day comfort meal.
