Ramadan, the most pious month is here! Every year when we embrace Ramadan, my mind just trickles down a deep memory lane. This also brings back the memories of my guest post which I had done for my lovely friend Lubna. In the last one year my bonding with Lubna has gone to a next level and I find myself special to connect to such a humble and gracious person. This year again when she approached me for an event post, I could not even start to think of a “NO” answer. I would accept her request and would love to be there with whatever I can do for her.
Whenever I ponder about Ramadan, the first thing that comes to my mind is that our beloved Prophet Muhammed (SAW) sermoned : “O people! The gates of Paradise remain open during this month. Pray to your Lord that they may not be closed for you; while the gates of Hell are closed, pray to your Lord that they never open for you. Satan has been chained, invoke your Lord not to let him dominate you.”
Reading this hadith, I get goose bumps by just imagining about the endless beauty of Jannah and I pray to my Lord that Jannah gets destined to us. During this month, when the gates of the Hell closed and Satan chained, we are in full control of ourselves to stay on the path of faith and get all your prayers answered. You can get all your longings bestowed from the Great Allah, by relentlessly being in the state of supplications as much as you can.
Now, let me share a note with you about the recipe “Fig Date Milkshake”. The reason why I chose figs and dates for this special month is the obvious benefits and all the healing effects of them mentioned in number of hadiths. Figs and dates, combined with milk and saffron would keep you energised and going through out the day in the state of fasting. There are days when we don’t want to eat too much in suhoor and for those who find it difficult having food in early morning, this milkshake fits the best for such situations. In fact, you can choose to have it during Iftaar after a day long fast. So, the point is to get the health drink before the fast to give you the strength or after the fast to recover the lost strength. If you are planning to drink this for suhoor, the best part is, you can make it at night and refrigerate it. When you get up in suhoor, the only thing you have to do is just gulp them all. For Iftar, you can prepare this in the afternoon and chill it, drink it during iftar. This can be enjoyed either chilled or warm. Here is how we can do this so simple and yet power packed energy drink..
