Just give me whatever you have in your pantry and I will give you a ‘scrumptious shake’. This is what our today’s drink is all about. For never ending humid climate of ‘Chennai’…a drink like this is most welcome at any time of the day. I arranged everything before leaving to pick up Lil’M from school and when we were back home…blended the ingredients and served. This was her after school treat for the day.
Delicious, nutritious and most of all it is simple to make….my kind of recipe. Incorporating nuts and fruits in daily meal for kids is bit tricky. Most of the conversation of mom’s when I meet them at school/park/activity class is round eating habits only. Generally very few mom’s say their kids eat everything….most of them complaint of not eating vegetables and some complaint about nuts/fruits.
I rather say my darling is little choosy when it comes to food and clothes. Nuts are something she never eats raw. I always have to look for options to incorporate nuts in her diet. In due process of using nuts I landed up making this shake….this shake has got goodness of almonds, crunchiness from biscuits, yumminess of chocolate and sweetness of dates. Overall a rich and creamy shake….by making which mama is happy and relishing which Lil’M is happy too….
ABCD Shake
INGREDIENTS:
- 6 Almonds, soaked for 2-3 hours
- ½ cup chilled Milk
- 6 Dates, pitted and soaked for 1 hour
- 3 tbsp. melted dark Chocolate/Hershey’s syrup
- 2 Hide & Seek biscuits
- 1 scoop Vanilla/Chocolate Ice cream {Optional}
- Swirl inside of serving glass with chocolate syrup or Hershey’s syrup and refrigerate for 10 minutes.
- In the meantime, in a blender first add almonds and grind them coarsely, then add dates, chocolate syrup and hide & seek biscuits.
- Pulse and make fine paste by adding little milk. Then add ice cream (if using) and remaining milk and churn until frothy.
- Pour in the prepared serving glasses and top with coloured sprinkles or fresh fruit of your choice.
- Add love to make this shake taste more ‘Yummy’.
