{Ramadan Special} – Bamboo Shots and Shrimps Lumpia by Ayudiah of ‘Momylicious’
Our today’s guest is very shy Indonesian food blogger. I came across Ayudiah of ‘Momylicious‘ while checking feeds on instagram. I was bowled over by the food photography and styling. When I mailed her for the guest post, she was shy as she was not comfortable in writing a post in English. Upon insisting, she took up the charge to send in these awesome and very new Bamboo Shots and Shrimps Lumpia. I am happy that she is part of this event.
Ramadan is well known as the holiest month in the Islamic lunar calendar. It is the month during which Muslim all over the world fast from sunrise until sunset throughout the entire month. In this holy month of Ramadan, let me wish everyone a very happy and blessed Ramadan. May Allah shower His countless blessings upon us so we can increase our worship and prayers maximally. Aamiin. This time I’m so honored to be invited as a guest in program ‘Joy From Fasting to Feasting’. Thanks Lubna for the invitation, although honestly it makes me nervous since I’m not really good in English.
Ramadan at Ayudiah’s Place
In our tradition, Ramadan isn’t only a fasting moment, but also a moment to get closer with our big family. We have Mudik tradition; refer to the activity where migrants workers return to their hometown or village during major holidays, especially Lebaran (eid al Fitr). When we’re back to our big family, we always cook and serve our special home cooking, from snacks until main course for Suhur and Iftar. At this opportunity, I will share Lumpia recipe, one of our favorite traditional snack that is often eaten as iftar meal.

What is Lumpia?
Lumpia is originated from China and commonly found in cities where significant Chinese Indonesian settles. The most popular variant is Lumpia Semarang, in which I draw my inspiration from. Lumpia Semarang is served with fresh baby shallots or leeks in sweet tauco (fermented soy) based sauce, together with fresh bird’s eye chili pepper. But this time I skip tauco and serve my Lumpia only with sour & spicy sauce for a lighter taste. I can only say that Lumpia is so delicious and highly addictive, the crunchy wrapper blend perfectly with savory filling, though we can consume it right away (unfried) as the filling is already cooked.
