It’s very hot here in Andhra and when I checked on the temperature it is showing 50C….the highest of the season till now….Never ending power cuts and pollution add to this…But life never stops…it goes on…People start early for the work and return late to avoid hot sun…..I can feel the hot air till 7 in the evening….Lil’M is finding very hard to adjust to the climate….she is throwing up water on her head every time I get engage in some work. Whenever anyone open refrigerator Lil’M will come running to stand near it….Whenever AC is on she wants to stay in that room…..
Apart from hot weather, power cut and pollution one more thing which is disturbing here in Andhra is education….Even though it is so hot here, schools and colleges did not shut down for summer vacation….with just a week gap from one academic year to next…school and colleges were reopened…before the exam results were out…admission to the year are in progress….you know here in Andhra Intermediate classes will start at 6.30 in the morning and end at 8.30 in the night…..with 3-4 intervals in between. The students staying in hostel have to stay for 2 hours more for study hours.
Yesterday I met a primary school principal who was going to start a new branch in our locality here…Upon taking she said, education is very different in Andhra….she meets lots of parents who never ask about school or check what facilities their children will get in school…they always ask how many hours you keep our children at school….if they say 7-8 hours for primary school kids…then they ask if there are any more study hours or something like that….I wonder why the parents want to keep their children away from home and themselves for so long….
This year my Lil’M will start her school and I am much worried thinking how will I be by leaving her for two hours everyday….But see the parents here…who want there kids to be away most of the time…thinking they are giving the best education in the world by paying hefty fee and keeping the kids away from them….. Hope the situation of education change and children get good atmosphere to study in and enjoy what they are learning…
Coming to today’s salad…I want to make this salad from so long….but somehow missed making it…I have seen Kylie Kwong making this in one of her episodes of ‘My China’ on TLC…It is so simple in making and so fresh to relish. Just five ingredients and simple dressing to finish this off….isn’t that sound simple….? I am taking about fresh and simple Kylie Kwong’s Orange-Pomegranate salad with Coriander leaves.
